Last year the Bureau of Primary Care Access and Planning at the DOHMH completed a consumer health literacy project funded by the NYS Population Health Improvement Program (PHIP). The culmination of the project was a report with recommendations for how to better align, coordinate, and improve communications targeted to New Yorkers about how to appropriately and effectively access health care services and utilize insurance coverage, which you provided feedback on for us.

DOHMH is preparing to host a follow-up stakeholder convening on October 15th to discuss the results of the report and to highlight programs that provide examples for how to operationalize the recommendations in the report. They are looking for non-clinical provider organizations that might be able to share how they have incorporated cultural competency into new, innovative ways health services and programs are being delivered to consumers at the event.

NYC 2nd Stakeholder Forum on Consumer Health Engagement. The forum will reconvene a growing network of NYC health system partners in order to share recommendations for how to enhance consumer health engagement, facilitate dialogue on assessing community needs and partner readiness, and coordinate strategies to improve the collective reach and impact on the current NYC landscape.
